Brief Guide to Mini Tennis:
Tiny Tots Tennis
These sessions are aimed at children aged 3 & 4 years old. The sessions are focused on co-ordination mainly, through the use of fun games. This is the perfect way to introduce youngsters to an active sporting lifestyle. Parents attend with their children.
Mini Tennis Red
These sessions are aimed at 4 –7 year olds. This is where children will first develop the ABC’S (Agility, Balance, Co-ordination, and Speed) skills for the game of Tennis. Smaller courts, lower nets and low bouncing soft balls help players to achieve this.
Mini Tennis Orange
These sessions are aimed at 7 – 9 years olds. With a larger court and slightly harder, low compression balls, children get to enhance the skills they have developed in Mini Red. Players will now learn more about the techniques and tactics involved in tennis.
Mini Tennis Green
This is the final stage of the Mini programme. Aimed for children aged
9 –11 years old. Now using the full court and harder balls, players get to make use all the space to show off the skills they have achieved.
Brief Guide to the Junior Medal Programme:
The Medal programme has been designed to provide Neston tennis players with a comprehensive learning environment. Juniors work on all the skills required to take their tennis to the next level and reach their potential. All players must show commitment and a positive attitude to enable a good intensity in sessions.
Squad age guidelines
Junior Bronze: 10-12yrs
Junior Silver: 12-14yrs
Junior Gold: 14yrs+
Junior Platinum: Invitation only, this will be the only squad to NOT have an age limit, (within reason) as this will be run purely on ability of the player
Teen Development: A session for those who don't want to follow the medal system, but enjoy improving their tennis.
Dan never cancels squads unless there is very severe weather or illness! He doesn't make refunds for any squads players miss either, but he does offer a free of charge Talent/Tournament session to squad players at the end of each coaching block.
Squads will be based on the following principles:
Technical - Racket technique and Swing Shape
Tactical - How to make the most out of the tennis court (Court Usage)
Physical - Co-ordination, Fitness, Agility and Footwork
Mental - How to handle the various situations a tennis player finds themselves in (Emotions, Body language)
With all squads, ability is more important than age, so do ask Dan if you are not sure which squad is best.
To get the most out of your tennis, come along to club night to meet with your friends and enjoy some games, but book some coaching in order to make good progress.
