The Tennis Pavilion
Our pretty wooden tennis pavilion is in serious need of some 'tlc'! In order to make it a useful facility for our members once more, we are planning/ have carried out the following work:
Outside:
Removal of the leylandii hedge: this will improve visibility for members to cross the driveway safely and improve access to the pavilion. Initially, the hedge will be lowered until we are in a position to replace it.
Installation of planters with a low-maintenance, but attractive, planting scheme in place of the hedging.
Erection of two exterior notice boards on the back wall of the pavilion, one for adults and one for juniors.
Create a covered decking area between the pavilion and the driveway; this should be a safe area for families in particular to watch the tennis.
Replace the main rear window with double doors to create a more convenient entrance.
Improvements to the barbecue area
A gravelled walkway will replace the muddy path.
Inside:
Clean, repaint walls and replace flooring.
Create a basic kitchen area in the 'left wing' to allow members to make hot and cold drinks.
The 'right wing' is the Head Coach's office and storage area.
'Player of the Month' noticeboard and various coaching displays in the main section, which we hope will become a focal point for social and junior tennis.
All this should complement the improvement to facilities in the main clubhouse.
We have been raising funds to pay for this with our car boot sales and are currently sourcing sponsorship for some of the more expensive items. If you, or your company, are in a position to help, then please get in touch!
