Tennis Camp August 2009

Our tennis camps have a reputation as fun filled, action-packed days.  Scroll down for a great slide show of a camp. Camps are run by highly qualifed coaches and are suitable for children of all abilities as they usually play in small groups.

Please e-mail jo@nestontennis.co.uk to go on the mailing list to receive details of this year's camps when available. We usually run a camp at Easter, Whitsun, 3 in the Summer holidays and a final one during October half-term.

 Frequently Asked Questions:

  • What if it rains?

Please provide your child with a waterproof coat and a change of clothes, just in case.  If the weather really makes having fun outside impossible, the children will do indoor activities.

  • What should they wear?

Any suitable sports clothing, A tracksuit is ideal, and it doesn't have to be all white these days!  Comfortable trainers are a must and several layers are a good idea in our changeable climate.

  • What else do they need to bring?

Bring your own racket if you have one, but we can provide all necessary equipment. You will also need a large packed lunch/snacks, plenty to drink and lots of energy!!

  • Do they have to be a club member?

No, the camps are open to members and non-members alike.  Of course, we do encourage children to join the club if they have enjoyed themselves.

  • What about food?

All campers should bring a packed lunch, a snack, and several drinks in unbreakable bottles/cartons.  We do not have catering facilities available, so a phone call home would be made for emergency supplies if lunch is forgotten!  A lot of children these days have nut allergies, so, if possible, we would prefer you to avoid nut products in the lunchbox.

  • What do they do all day?

It wouldn't be a tennis camp without tennis!!  We spend two thirds of the 3 days delivering tennis coaching to the children through loads of fun tennis games.  The remaining time is spent doing a variety of other sports such as football, hockey, rounders and lots more.

In addition, we run indoor activities such as air hockey, fun quizzes, Lego building and arts and crafts, offering children many different opportunities.

We always run a set theme on day 3 of the camp - the last one was Neston's very own MINI OLYMPICS!!  We have FANTASTIC coaches and assistants on board to give your child the holiday camp they won't stop talking about!!!

Beginner players are shown how to correctly swing the tennis racket and move their feet.
Intermediate players are shown how to make the most of their existing swing shapes.
Advanced players are challenged through a variety of competitions based on thier attributes.

Tennis based activities take place from 9am to 3pm; those doing the 'premium' camp get to do other fun activities outside those times.

  • What time does it start and finish?

Please arrive promptly at 9.00am for the main camp, or 8.30am if doing the 'premium'.  We finish at 3pm each day, or 5pm for 'premium'.

  • How old do children have to be to attend?

Camps are usually suitable for children aged 5 to 12 years old.

  • What about suncream?

Coaches do not apply suncream.  You can now buy suncream that lasts nearly all day, and we recommend this on the off chance that we have some sunshine!  Do pack sun hats for our summer camps.

  • How much does it cost?

The cost for the full three days is;
Mornings - £25 (available to ages 5 to 7 only)
 Basic camp - £50
 Premium camp - £65

  • Do you accept childcare vouchers?
We hope to - we were able to accept these, but the rules changed this year and we are working towards the new regulations!

  • How do I know if my child has a place?

I will send an e-mail confirmation if you provide an e-mail address or give you a quick call when I receive the booking form.  If you would like written confirmation, please enclose a stamped, self-addressed envelope with your booking form.
